Hurts So Good!

That first few moments when you push off, land, push off.... Your shin twinges, cringes a little... Stand up straight, relax, and that hurt eases off.  Next to disappeared.  That's my hurt so good. I'd prefer no hurt at all but that will only take... TIME.

I understand now, how "time" is almost a curse word for a runner. Time to heal means less time to log the km, less time to train for that half marathon in the not that far future.

So I changed my time. Switched from a 12 week training plan that left me 3 weeks to recover and regroup. To the running rooms 18 week training plan. A little bit slower, hopefully easier on my body  to let it have an inkling of a chance to slightly recover while I still run. And will lead me right to race day.

Slow and steady wins the race. And this week has felt really good! 4km in 29C heat at a tempo pace for me and it felt good.

And today, today I gloriously got to the gym. I hit the treadmill, it's just too hot and the heat is sucking my life energy, I strength trained with free weights, and my body loved it, and I know I have been missing it. And then I hopped on the cross trainer for the last 15 minutes.  And the girls had lots of fun with their gym friends too :) . Win win!

Anyways, time to rest!
